When first arriving into Cockenzie and Port Seton you're greeted by this sign. The sign also informs locals and visitors alike that in 2008 Cockenzie and Port Seton won the Rose Bowl - Permanent Landscaping Award. That same year they also won the Scottish Natural Heritage Biodiversity Award. If you'd like to see all award winners past and present you can visit the Beautiful Scotland website here. |

Just before the welcome sign you'll find this sign set back from the road. The Sandy Walk takes you up the Eastern side of Port Seton between the village itself and the Seton Sands Caravan Park. To access the walk you'll have to make your way through the gate to the side and don't forget your country side code and close all gates behind you. |

The Sandy Walk takes you up through a wooded area and eventually ends with another gate where the woodland area conjoins with the farmers fields. Further on there are some private farm houses or you could make the trek up through the field to your left and head on towards the Seton Collegiate Church. |

This field rests between the caravan park and the edge of the Sandy Walk and is home to these three magnificent looking horses. |

Accessed from the Dual Carriage Way by car and a short walk from the south, or from the Sandy Walk and the fields / woodland area to the north you can find The Seton Collegiate Church. It is one of the finest surviving medieval collegiate churches in Scotland and originally dates back to the 13th century. You can read all about the history of this beautiful and tranquil place on the Historic Scotland website. |

From inside the peace of The Seton Collegiate Church you can peer over the gate at the stately Seton Palace located just next door. Please remember, however, that this is a private residence and not a tourist attraction. |

Another previous stately home within the community is the proud expanse of Cockenzie House. Set within beautiful gardens which boast a vast array of plants and flowers, a pond and even a 'grotto' which is said to have been built from lava and black granite brought back from Iceland by the Cadell family fishing fleet. Once a well respected nursing home, the use of Cockenzie House is currently in limbo. You can read about the working being put into the future of the house by the Cockenzie House Heritage Group at their website. |

Inside Cockenzie House you can find many treasures including this grand piano. |
